MEET YOUR TUTOR
Hi, I'm Richard.
I've been running my own woodworking business for the past seven years, and I've been working with resin for around six years. In that time, I've created more than 300 wood and resin pieces, from dining tables and desks to side tables, clocks and console tables.
I first discovered resin after seeing someone using it on YouTube. It looked amazing — and, if I'm honest, it also looked a lot easier than it actually was!
My first attempt went wrong in just about every way it could.
Resin can be complicated and tricky, and that's one of the reasons I wanted to create Resin School. So much of what you see online makes working with resin look quick and effortless. In reality, there's a lot to understand — and plenty of mistakes you can make along the way.
I've made many of those mistakes myself, and over the years I've learned what works, what doesn't, and how to get the best from both the resin and the wood.
It's not about making everything perfect.
One of the things I love most about working with resin is that every piece is completely individual.
Wood has its own quirks, character and imperfections. Rather than trying to make every piece identical, I enjoy working with those characteristics to create something unique and beautiful.
That's what I want to encourage you to do.
My teaching style is laid-back, practical and hands-on. I'll demonstrate the techniques, then let you have a go. If you need help, guidance or an explanation, I'll be there to help you work it out.
There’s no pressure to produce a perfect piece. The aim is for you to learn, experiment, enjoy the process and leave feeling confident enough to keep working with resin yourself.
